I cannot remember when I developed an interest for photography, but I think it was around the age of 10. I remember asking my parents for a camera for one of my birthdays and I received a nice Canon point and shoot. At the time, my grand dad would take photos of us in summer, with his old film cameras and I remember being very impressed by the look of these. I am fairly sure he had a big impact on my interest for photography.
Later on, I studied for an environment degree and that really sparked my interest further, although I did not really try to understand what I was doing. I got myself a digital camera and started shooting as many photos as I could. I think I did that for a long time which made me have a very weird relationship with this craft. For a while I felt frustrated because the photos were never really interesting and becasue I had no idea how to edit them.
So in 2020, my sense of timing kicked in and I decided to get myself a film camera (Canon AE-1 Program) again and re-learn everything. Right before lockdown… well played me I guess! Since then I have been trying to learn and find my way in this art. Film is definitely the way to go for me, as I find digital photography to be a lot colder and disconnected, even though it is great to learn without spending too much money.
At the moment I am using cameras my grand dad gave me (Foca Sport II, Minox 35 GT-E, Kodak Retina II), but also my Canon AE1-Program and a Canon EOS 3 and I recently bought a full frame Wista45.
